In 2022, 3M announced the company would end manufacturing of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) products in 2025. This decision was made due to anticipated regulatory changes regarding the presence of PFAS in the environment. This means solvents such as Novec 72DE and Novec 73DE will be discontinued, leaving many companies searching for sufficient Novec replacements within their processes. Solvents Company’s Versatill® HD has comparable properties to these products, making it an effective 3M Novec 72DE replacement as well as a 3M Novec 73DE replacement.
Versatill® HD has azeotropic properties and is the basic member of the Versatill® family upon which other members are built and expanded. Versatill® HD is an aggressive cleaner, aimed at degreasing and cleaning metal and ceramic surfaces from oils, greases and other soils. It can be utilized in existing vapor degreasing equipment after minimal adjustments. Its performance and cost make it an excellent replacement option for other solvents such as CFCs, PFCs, HFEs, HCFCs (HCFC-141b and HCFC-225) and aqueous cleaners.
